<p>Join our team as an Engineering Intern with a Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering focus to support the design, development, and optimization of advanced data center infrastructure critical to xAI’s AI compute systems. This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, working alongside world-class engineers on projects that push the boundaries of technology.</p>
<p>Qualified applicants may be reviewed by one or more of the following teams:</p>
<p><strong>Electrical</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>xAI is looking for Interns who are passionate about advancing human scientific discovery. This position will assist in analyzing electrical systems of high-capacity power distribution (PDUs), UPS systems, and cooling units. Hands-on experience assisting to analyze power needs based on current and project IT loads, keeping an eye for efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical plans with mechanical designs, ensuring seamless operation of AI compute hardware. We encourage you to bring your ideas to the table to optimize efficiency and cost-reduction. All interns are expected to keep documentation of design processes, test results, and project updates to maintain clear communication with the engineering team.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Civil </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>xAI is seeking Civil Engineering Interns passionate about building resilient infrastructure to support massive AI compute demands. This position will assist in analyzing and designing civil site elements for data center campuses and supporting power generation buildings, with a focus on land development, site grading, stormwater management, hydrology & hydraulics (H&H), foundation systems, and utility integration to ensure high reliability, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency. </li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field</li>
<li>Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit) and basic engineering analysis tools</li>
<li>Understanding of datacenter electrical systems such as transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems. <em>(electrical)</em></li>
<li>Prior experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems, SQL Databases, Python, or HTML is a plus <em>(controls)</em> </li>
<li>Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn in a high-impact, technical environment</li>
<li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate ideas clearly</li>
<li>Passion for xAI’s mission to advance human scientific discovery through AI</li>
<li>Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 pounds during testing or installation tasks</li>
<li>Comfort working in a data center environment, including occasional exposure to noise and temperature variations</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Able to work full time, onsite for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning in May or June 2026</li>
<li>Able to provide own transportation for positions in Memphis, TN and Southaven, MS</li>
